Nelson Shanks palette
I am looking forward to a September class at the Art Student's League in Manhattan where I will be studying with world renowned portrait painter Nelson Shanks. He has painted portraits of Princess Diana along with Pope John Paul II. In researching him a bit I found a great picture that someone from another blog (http://world-market-portraits.blogspot.com) posted which featured pictures of his palette. I also took the liberty of posting a list of all the colors he uses. I've read that he utilizes some 26 or so colors. Enjoy!

I wish I could be there - please post a report on your experience!
Shanks uses a so-called "colorist" palette. "Painting The Impressionist Landscape" is a book written by another student who studied with Hensche in Provincetown, Cape Cod.

Hi Laurel.
Thank you for your comment. I just started this blog as part of my website and it's nice to see that people are enjoying my information. I'll do my best to keep it updated. I will be posting a demo from Shanks sometime next week as he is scheduled to do a demo in our class on Tuesday. I'll talk with you soon.
